The Energy Show '96 is a combined two-day conference and exhibition sponsored by the European Union's multiannual programme for the promotion of energy efficiency in the European Union (SAVE). The Irish Energy Centre and the Department of Economic Development of Northern Ireland are co-sponsors of the event which will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 8-9 October 1996.

The objective of the show is to inform participants of the various techniques and technologies by which energy consumption can be reduced. Speakers, delegates, exhibitors ad show visitors will be given the opportunity to network and exchange opinions, maximising the synergy between all concerned and the opportunities for advancement in this important area.

The conference programme will cover the following four areas:

- Energy efficiency and policy: Outlining the EU's energy policy and the influence of energy efficiency on employment and the environment;
- Energy efficiency and climate change: Highlighting the potential impacts on climate change as a result of energy usage and the various approaches to alleviating the same;
- Making a commitment: The first step toward increased energy efficiency is the commitment from within an organization to this goal. Different approaches to this upper-level commitment will be assessed and discussed;
- Making it work: A review of key measures being introduced in the UK and Ireland.
