The 20th "On-line Information" conference will be held in London, United Kingdom, from 3 to 5 December 1996. The conference will cover all areas of on-line information, and particularly the Internet which is now by far the best known on-line information medium.

Topics to be covered at the conference will include:

- The Information Society: its effect on the information industry;
- Disintermediation: the challenge of change;
- Web tools and developments;
- On-line education and training: new concepts;
- Networked information resources;
- Consumer on-line: realities behind the hype;
- Publishing and the new media;
- Adapting team-building to the new workplace;
- New ways of delivering information;
- Doing business in Europe and Asia;
- The future: is the past any guide?

Speakers at the conference will include representatives of the European Commission, the UK government, academic institutions and information equipment suppliers. In addition, a number of users and information providers involved in on-line services will give presentations based on their experiences in using these services.

In addition to the conference, there will be an exhibition of on-line information products and services, with over 250 companies exhibiting. CORDIS, the European Community's Research and Development Information Service, will be among those at the exhibition. Visitors to the CORDIS stand will be able to see the full range of CORDIS services, including the on-line databases, CORDIS Focus magazine and the CORDIS CD-ROM. In addition to the established CORDIS services, visitors will see the latest developments in the extensive CORDIS World Wide Web site.
