National Innovation Day - Ireland
The international colloquium, to be held in the morning, will focus on the organization and funding of RTD at regional, national and European Community levels. The future design and orientation of an integrated RTD policy to optimize economic and social impacts at local level will be examined. Speakers at the conference will include Jorma Routti, Director General of DG XII (Science, Research and Development), and Giulio Grata, Director in DG XIII responsible for the dissemination and optimization of research results. Other speakers will include Commission officials and Irish policy advisors and analysts.
The third North/South Innovation Lecture will be given, in the evening of 4 November, by Mrs. Edith Cresson, Commissioner responsible for Science and Research policy, on the theme "Implementation of the Green Paper on Innovation".
The conference on "Competitiveness through the management of technology" will be held in the afternoon, and will cover a variety of topics including in-house RTD and the exploitation of external technological resources. Such external resources include training, technical services, quality control, registration for technical and quality standards, external sources of technology and joint RTD projects.
