Innovation in SMEs

A seminar on innovation in SMEs, entitled "Effective support from public programmes and industrial research and technology organizations", will be held in Stockholm, Sweden, from 6 to 7 November 1996. The seminar is being organized by the Association for Technology Implementation in Europe (TAFTIE), in collaboration with the Federation of European Industrial Cooperative Research Organizations (FEICRO) and the European Association of Contract Research Organizations (EACRO).

The aim of the seminar is to exchange information on programmes aimed at supporting the innovation process in SMEs. Speakers will include Mr. Robert-Jan Smits, from the SME Coordination Unit in DG XII (Science, research and development) of the European Commission who will present European Community measures in this area.

The main part of the seminar will consist of presentations of national schemes, with emphasis on the results and evaluations of these schemes. Programmes will be presented from Finland, Ireland, Austria, The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, Norway and Portugal.
