The 2nd European Digital Cities Conference will be held in Strasbourg, France, from 12 to 13 December 1996. The conference is being organized by Eurocities, and is funded by the European Commission, DG XIII, under the Telematics Applications programme.

The aims of the conference are to disseminate the first results of the urban pilot projects from the Telematics Applications programme, develop synergies between relevant actors and broaden the political commitment to the "Digital Cities" projects.

Four key topics will be addressed:

- Defining cities' rights and responsibilities in the development of new telematics services;
- Trends in the development of Digital Cities;
- First lessons from urban telematics pilot projects;
- Defining the role of local partners.

Speakers at the conference will include representatives from a number of cities around the EU who will outline the experiences gained from telematics projects implemented in their cities.
