The Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT) in the UK is organizing a series of "Project Management Workshops" addressing project management issues for EU-funded RTD projects. The workshops, to be held in London and Bristol in December 1996 and January/February 1997, will cover the Community's specific RTD programmes in the fields of: Industrial and Materials Technologies (BRITE/EURAM); Information Technologies (ESPRIT); Life Sciences (BIOMED, BIOTECH and FAIR); and Telematics Applications of common interest.

The schedule for the IETT Project Management Workshops is as follows:

- BRITE/EURAM: London, 11 December 1996/29 January 1997;
- ESPRIT: London, 11 December 1996/29 January 1997;
- Life Sciences: London, 9 December 1996/12 February 1997;
- TELEMATICS: London, 12 December 1996; Bristol, 24 February 1997.

The agenda for all Project Management Workshops will include:

- Contractual aspects (EC and associate contracts and consortium agreements);
- Project structure and timescales (deliverables, milestones, mid-term review);
- The role of project coordinator (coordination, communication, common problems);
- Project organization (administration, decision-making, meetings);
- Project management techniques (planning, measuring progress, financial monitoring);
- Reporting procedures (project reports, periodical and final reporting procedures);
- Cost statements (allowable and non-allowable costs, cost statements);
- Exploitation issues (IPR, dissemination and exploitation activities);
- Round table discussions and one-to-one consultations.

Speakers will include EC technical auditors, EC programme evaluators and project managers with recent or current experience of running RTD projects.
