IMBC'97 - Fourth International Marine Biotechnology Conference
The event has been specifically designed to generate new research collaborations and improve links between academia, industry and government. It is intended to identify specific areas in which marine biotechnology can contribute to sustaining natural marine resources, to generate the economic development of marine biotechnology industries, and to communicate to society in general the role marine biotechnology can play in enhancing the quality of life and the environment.
The programme will be based on abstracts selected after stringent peer review by an ad hoc international programme committee. Abstracts are being invited on the following topics:
- Marine organisms as biological models for marine biotechnological applications:
. Cell and molecular biology;
. Developmental biology;
. Biomedical implications;
. Environmental adaptation and evolution;
. Others;
- Natural and cultural industrial marine resources in marine biotechnology:
. Aquaculture;
. Fisheries;
. Natural products;
. Conservation;
. Others;
- Marine biotechnological interactions:
. Bioremediation;
. Extremophiles;
. Host-pathogen interactions;
. Biodiversity;
. Symbiosis;
. Viruses;
. Others;
- Socio-economic and regulatory aspects of marine biotechnology:
. Marine policy issues;
. UN 'Law of the Sea' Convention;
