The fourth International Conference on Intelligence in Services and Networks will be held in Como, Italy, from 27 to 29 May 1997. The conference, which is supported by the European Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Advanced Communications Technologies and Services (ACTS), will focus on the theme "Technology for Cooperative Competition".

The conference provides a forum for the discussion of issues, and the exchange of outstanding technical results, related to the engineering of advanced communication services and experiments on their use. Industrial fora in the field will be invited to share their visions. Whilst the main theme of the conference will relate to technology, contributions will also address market and regulatory aspects. The main topics to be covered will include:

- Open architectures and interfaces;
- Evolution of Intelligent Networks and migration issues;
- Open distributed processing for communication services;
- Human machine interfaces;
- Management, security and integrity of services and systems;
- Interdomain management;
- Service interaction;
- Intelligent agent technology;
- Quality of service;
- Service analysis and design;
- New trends in multimedia and mobile services.
