Innovative control concepts for intermodal transport
The intermodal concept is increasingly seen as a solution to the problems raised by combining different modes of transport. Various initiatives to boost intermodality are either already underway or are planned at European, national and regional levels. These initiatives should, optimally, exploit the results of ongoing and completed RTD projects in the field.
The ICIT conference is intended to provide a platform for the exchange of information on current initiatives in the field and on the results of promising RTD and demonstration projects. It is intended to speed up the development of intermodality by bringing together potential users of innovative intermodal concepts (suppliers of intermodal services and transport operators) and the developers of these concepts.
The results of 16 selected European RTD and demonstration projects will be presented at the conference. The best project will be presented with the Delta Lloyd Innovation Award for Intermodal Transport. The programme will include four lectures, by specialists with extensive industrial experience, covering organizational, technological and financial issues related to the development, introduction and use of advanced control systems for intermodal transport. Information on European funding opportunities aimed at stimulating the development of intermodal transport will also be provided.
