A conference entitled "Finance for enterprises through their life cycle" will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 5 and 6 December 1996. The conference is organized by Forbairt, the Irish state development agency, with support from DG XXIII of the European Commission.

This conference is one of several preparatory conferences, being held across Europe, for the third European Conference for Craft and Small Enterprises, which will be held in Milan, Italy, in 1997.

The aim of the conference is to discuss the measures already in place, at both Community and Member State level, for financing enterprises and to put forward recommendations for new policies to the Milan conference. Sessions at the conference will cover the following topics:

- Key issues of SME policies on access to finance;
- Relationships between SMEs and banks;
- Debt and supplier credit financing;
- Non-credit financing;
- New approaches for public assistance in financing craft and small enterprises.
