The German Engineers Association (Verein Deutscher Ingenieure - VDI) is organizing a conference on industrial ventilation to be held in Stuttgart, Germany, on 11 April 1997. The conference, which is supported by the THERMIE section of the Community's JOULE/THERMIE programme in the field on non-nuclear energy.

The VDI conference will bring together approximately 100 consultants, contractors, industry representatives and manufacturers interested in the topic of industrial ventilation. It will also attract persons interested in the theoretical and practical health aspects of the issue.

The conference will provide an overview of the state-of-the-art in the following specific areas:

- Indoor environmental demands;
- International research activities;
- National and European standards and guidelines;
- Research reports on ventilation measures and optimization of air-collection devices;
- Practical results from industry concerning a combination of heat sources and emissions;
- Inspection reports;
- New design methods.
