The Global Inventory Project, one of the eleven G7 pilot projects in the Information Society launched in February 1995, is organizing a series of nine Information Days to be held in a selection of European countries during the first half of 1997.

The Global Inventory Project (GIP) is a multimedia inventory of national and international projects, studies and calls relevant to the promotion and the further development of knowledge and understanding of the Information Society. The project is built upon and complements ongoing national and international initiatives and will extend to include initiatives from outside the G7 countries.

The Information Days are planned to promote the GIP in non-G7 countries and to create awareness of the functionalities of the GIP system and its relevance to the development of the Information Society. The Days will also promote the GIP's use as a tool for the free exchange of information, as well as fostering international investments through its brokerage function.

The one-day events will take place as follows:

- Copenhagen, Denmark, 3 March 1997;
- Prague, Czech Republic, 8 March 1997;
- Madrid, Spain, 18 March 1997;
- Sofia, Bulgaria, 3 April 1997;
- Cairo, Egypt, 15 April 1997;
- Budapest, Hungary, 25 April 1997;
- Tel Aviv, Israel, 5 May 1997;
- Istanbul, Turkey, 10 May 1997;
- Warsaw, Poland, 30 May 1997.
