RIDE'97 - Research Issues in Data Engineering
RIDE'97 will bring together researchers, developers and users working on issues related to high performance database management for large-scale applications. The Internet and its underlying infrastructure is restructuring the way in which people interact with service providers such as banks, retail stores, government agencies, and professional and social organizations.
Such organizations now have the opportunity to undertake electronic commerce, on-line shopping, support extensive decision making capabilities using datamining and data warehousing techniques, as well as supporting mission-critical operations. All these activities place an ever increasing load upon the underlying data management systems.
The RIDE'97 workshop is devoted solely to addressing these issues and contains a mixture of invited talks, contributed papers and panel sessions, together with a session specifically devoted to work being funded in this area by the European Union.
