SecurNet'97 - Network security

The second annual conference on network security, SecurNet'97, will take place in Cannes, France, on 20-21 March 1997. The conference is being organized by Elsevier Advanced Technology (EAT) and is aimed at network managers, IT security managers and IT consultants from around the globe.

Participants will have the opportunity to listen to presentations by leading world experts in the field of network security. Issues to be covered will include:

- European security initiatives;
- Security issues for commercial users of the Internet;
- Future firewall technology;
- Intrusion detection and prevention;
- Protecting networks from virus infection;
- SYN packets and denial of service attacks;
- Java security;
- TCP/IP security;
- IP forgery/spoofing;
- Network infrastructure security;
- Intranet security issues.

A presentation on European initiatives relating to the security of information systems, with particular focus on the activities of the INFOSEC programme for the security of telecommunications and information systems, will be given by a representative of the European Commission (DG XIII).
