An EU Advanced Training Course on "Economics and management in biotechnology companies" will take place in Como, Italy, from 1 to 7 September 1997. The course is one of the training courses in biotechnology organized and financed each year by the European Union within the framework of the Biotechnology programme.

The seven-day course will offer young European scientists, working in the field of biotechnology, valuable training in the economic and management aspects of working in a biotechnology company. Companies contacted concerning the course have declared their interest for this initiative given that lack of training in economics constitutes one of the bottlenecks for scientists working in this field. Approximately 10% to 20% of applications are expected to come from industry.
