The sixth annual BIC (Business and Innovation Centres) Congress will take place in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, on 29 and 30 May 1997. The conference is organized by the European Business and Innovation Centre Network (EBN), with the support of Scottish Innovation and the British BIC Committee.

The theme of the congress is "Cooperation for profit and growth". The congress programme will focus on a number of small workshops which encourage interaction between participants. These workshops will cover subjects such as inter-enterprise cooperation, tools, role of BICs, partnerships, and inter-BIC cooperation in areas such as common responses to calls for tender, pilot experiments and sharing know-how.

In addition to the congress, there will also be meetings of BIC national committees and the EBN annual general assembly. In parallel to the congress, Scottish Innovation is organizing an INTERPRISE event bringing together some sixty companies, from Britain, Germany and Belgium, involved in the electronic applications and environmental technologies sectors. The aim is to promote the establishment of new contacts.
