The sixth European Technology Forum will be held in Lille, France, on 26 and 27 March 1997. The event is organized by "L'Association des Centraliens", with the support of the European Commission's Representation in France.

The session on 26 March will address the topic "From research to innovation in Europe". This session will include an address from Mrs. Edith Cresson, Commissioner responsible for research, education and training, and will feature participants from DG XII and DG XIII, and the Institute for Prospective Technological Studies (IPTS) of the European Commission. Three aspects will be covered:

- Technological forecasting and priorities in Europe;
- From basic research to the creation of companies;
- Financing innovation in Europe.

Thursday 27 March will be taken up with two separate series of workshops. The first of these series will address different aspects of "technology management and new challenges". The second series will examine innovation in the context of key inter-sectoral technologies.

The Forum will close with a final plenary session, at which the "Engineer of the year" award will be presented by a member of the French government. All participants will receive a "Technology Information Pack", containing material from the speakers.
