A EUREKA Brokerage event in the agro-biotechnology sector, concentrating on advanced use for the non-food sector, will be held in Tulln, Austria, from 26 to 27 May 1997. The event is organized by the Institute for Agro-biotechnology (IFA Tulln) and BIT, the Austrian Bureau for International Research and Technology Cooperation.

The aim of the event is to offer a platform for multi-national cooperation in the fields of non-food agro-biotechnology, leading to the generation of European research projects. The programme for the event will be based on four technical workshops:

- Utilization of renewable bio-resources for the production of biochemicals;
- Energy production of renewable bio-resources;
- New molecular methods for plant breeding in the non-food area;
- New developments and applications of biodegradable material.

These workshop sessions will be chaired by an expert in the field, who will give an overview of the area. Following this, participants will have the opportunity to present and discuss their ideas for projects. The second day will provide participants with the possibility to conduct bilateral meetings with potential partners.
