A seminar on the protection of industrial property rights will be held in Pisa, Italy, from 9 to 11 April 1997. The seminar is organized by the Innovation Relay Centres RECITAL (Tuscany and Umbria) and CIRCE (Lazio and Abruzzo) and LES Italia.

The seminar will focus on the problems related to marketing products as "made in ---" within a global and international context. This concern is heightened as companies continually seek new markets and lower-cost production sites to stay competitive. Participants will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences with international counterparts.

The programme will include presentations on the Community's INNOVATION programme, in particular the services offered by the Innovation Relay Centres Network, and the possibilities offered by technology transfer. Presentations will address the situation in relation to licensing, including legal and fiscal aspects, and will draw on the experiences of a number of companies. The second day will address the conditions of "made in ---" labelling in different countries and regions. In addition, there will be parallel workshops covering textiles and clothing, wine and sub-contracting.
