The Federation of German Civil Servants (DBB), in cooperation with the Representation of the European Commission in Germany and the Forum Info 2000, is organizing a one-day conference on "Europe in the age of the Information Society", to be held in Bonn, Germany, on 5 May 1997.

The possibilities offered by modern information technologies are increasingly dictating the life of citizens. The consequences of this, both positive and negative, have left their mark on the working world. The role of education and training has also grown in importance with the need to train the citizens of Europe in the use of these new technologies. These and other themes will be presented and discussed during the conference. Speakers will include representatives from Directorate Generals V and XIII of the European Commission.
