Association of Israel and Switzerland to the Fourth Framework Programme

A conference on the "Association of Israel and Switzerland to the Fourth Framework Programme" will take place in Bonn, Germany, on 5 May 1997. The conference, which is organized by EuroConsult - Research and Education, is being held under the umbrella of the Ministry for Federal and European Issues of the Land North Rhine-Westphalia.

The conference will provide an overview of the structures and instruments of higher education, science and research promotion in Israel and Switzerland. Representatives from the European Parliament, the European Commission and of science organizations from the two countries will comment on the prospects for enlarging the European science community, as well as on the structure and current status of science and research in Israel and Switzerland.

Israel joined the Fourth Framework Programme on 6 August 1996, as the first non-European associated partner. The negotiations between Switzerland and the European Union concerning association to the Fourth Framework Programme are expected to be concluded shortly.
