ETIS'97 - IT on the move

ETIS'97, the European Telecommunications Informatics Services conference, will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, on 26 and 27 June 1997. The conference theme will be "IT on the move".
The conference will address the widespread changes in the telecommunications environment in the last couple of years. Important examples include moves towards liberalizing markets and the formation of global alliances between major telecoms companies. There have been many changes on the technological front and the telecoms and information technology industries have come closer together.
The points of view of both operators and equipment suppliers will be put forward during the various conference sessions. In addition, four workshops will address the following topics:
- Architectures and open systems;
- Impact of IT on business;
- New business models;
- Addressing complexity and change.
Mr. Robert Verrue, Director-General of DG XIII of the European Commission (Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research) will give a keynote speech in which he will outline European initiatives and programmes for the establishment of affordable and interoperable new services.
