INTERFACES'97 - Man-machine interactions and intelligent systems in business
Held annually, the INTERFACES conference provides a meeting point for those concerned with advanced information technology. In particular, it allows the exchange of information and technology transfer between industry and the world of applied R&D. Amongst other topics the conference covers: human-computer interfaces, intelligent systems and the information super highway.
Presentations are selected to show the economic benefits, as well as the technical advantages and limitations of tools, techniques and methods relating to the above topics in real-life applications.
INTERFACES'97 will include two main plenary sessions, addressing "Man-machine interaction" and "Intelligent systems", poster presentations, an industrial forum, and an exhibition of products, applications and advanced prototypes. In addition, six specialized conferences will focus on specific sectors:
- Architecture and construction;
- Banking and insurance;
- Business management;
- Industrial process control;
- Medicine and devices for the disabled;
- Transportation.
An overview of industrial projects in man-machine interaction and intelligent systems within the Community's ESPRIT programme will be presented by Mr. Varghese of the European Commission, who will also provide information on future opportunities in this area within the EU's research programmes.
A special workshop on the MIX project, an ESPRIT project whose goal is to investigate strategies and develop tools for integrating symbolic and connectionist processing in hybrid knowledge-based systems, will be held on 28 May 1997, within the framework of INTERFACES'97.
