WASCON'97, the "Third International Conference for the Environmental and Technical Implications of Construction with Alternative Materials", will be held in Houthem St. Gerlach, The Netherlands, from 4 to 6 June 1997. The conference is supported by the Community's Standards, Measurements and Testing (SMT) RTD programme.

The theme for the conference will be "putting theory into practice". The majority of the programme will be taken up with parallel workshop sessions addressing issues related to individual materials. Companies will have the opportunity to give presentations of their projects in the field. There will also be poster sessions where researchers can display their work. The organizing society, ISCOWA, aims to facilitate the transfer of theoretical knowledge to the daily practice of the construction industry.
