RIAO'97 - Computer-Assisted Information Retrieval

THE RIAO'97 conference on computer-assisted information retrieval, partly sponsored by the European Communities, will take place in Montreal, Canada, on 25-27 June 1997. The RIAO conferences are organized every three years by the "Centre de Hautes Etudes Internationales d'Informatique Documentaire" (CID) in Paris (France), in collaboration with various international affiliates.
RIAO'97, the fifth conference in the series, will focus on computer-assisted information searching on the Internet. The development of the network affects all areas of information retrieval and data diffusion, and amplifies the problem of information filtering. The conference will address the problems arising from this and suggest strategies for the future.
RIAO conferences incorporate both scientific papers and innovative product demonstrations. This mix lends itself to a critical examination of both, with potential for advances in product development and sponsorship, as well as the initiation of lines for further critical research investigations.
