An Information Day on the Community's multiannual programme to promote the linguistic diversity of Europe in the Information Society (MLIS) will be held in Luxembourg on 15 May 1997.

The first round of calls for proposals under this programme is due to be launched by the end of May. The Information Day aims to give potential proposers the opportunity to discuss ideas and procedures, and to provide them with advice on the preparation of proposals.

As the first calls to be launched will fall under Action Lines 1 and 2 of the MLIS work programme, the Information Day will be aimed primarily at the following target groups:

- Action Line 1: Companies in the publishing sector dealing with dictionaries and similar language resources;
- Action Line 2: Business organizations and associations active in the field of coordination and information which take an interest in promoting cross-language communication in the business environment (eg. Chambers of Commerce, etc.).

As the number of participants is restricted, pre-registration for this event is essential.
