A series of Inter-Urban Transport Telematics Fora (IUTTF), to be held from Spring 1997 to Autumn 1998, are being organized by CODE, a horizontal support project launched in 1996 under the Community's Telematics Applications programme.

The IUTTF aim to provide a platform for key national and regional actors in transport to debate with transport operators, researchers and suppliers of telematics services and systems. They are designed to:

- Facilitate the exchange of experiences between key national and regional actors in the application of transport telematics, the dissemination of good practice and the exploitation of project results;

- To address the main national and regional transport telematics issues and to support key actors from Member States and regions in forming a consensus on these issues and, ultimately, common practices;

- To increase Member States and regions' understanding of Advanced Transport Telematics (ATT) concepts, systems, applications and operational experience and promote their needs;

- To provide key national and regional decision makers with the tools to convey the benefits of ATT to their administrations and citizens.

The Fora are aimed at:

- Key decision makers, on the political and technical level, from Member States and regional authorities, who are responsible for the introduction and operation of telematics technologies and systems in the fields of transport and the environment;
- Representatives of infrastructure and transport operators, telematics service providers and user groups;
- Researchers in the area of transport telematics.
