The second international conference on intermodal transport and transit in South-east Europe will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece, from 4 to 6 June 1998. The conference is supported by the European Commission, DG VII.

The aim of the conference is to provide an opportunity for the widest exchange of information on research and practical experience in intermodal transport in South-east Europe among all parties concerned. It should help to formulate solutions to existing problems hindering the development of intermodal transport. In addition, it should provide a comprehensive picture of the state-of-the-art in technologies, products and services used for intermodal transport.

The organizers are inviting papers and presentations on the following subjects:

- Logistics (methods, tools, practices);
- New technologies in intermodal transport;
- Difficulties in crossing borders (customs, clearance, other controls);
- The intermodal corridors in South-east Europe;
- Security and insurance issues;
- Concerted actions for coordination of transport modes.
