The sixth Liège conference on materials for advanced power engineering will be held in Liège, Belgium, from 5 to 7 October 1998. The conference is supported by the European Commission, and COST Action 501.

The aim of the conference is to discuss recent developments in European materials projects in the field of power engineering. Related international activities will also be covered in the programme. Materials requirements for the first decades of the 21st century will form a significant part of the programme. The main topics will be as follows:

- Materials for advanced steam cycle plant;
- Materials and coatings for advanced gas turbines;
- High temperature corrosion resistant heat exchangers.
