A workshop on reproductive toxicology, "'In vitro' germ cell developmental toxicology - From science to social and industrial demand", will be held in Granada, Spain, from 8 to 10 October 1997. The workshop is being organized by the Centre for Biological Research (Madrid), within the context of the European Commission's specific research programme in the field of Biotechnology.

Numerous reports demonstrate that the reproductive system could be affected by multiple toxicological agents. The objective of this workshop is to analyse the impact of potential toxicological agents on reproductive systems, and to assess the latest scientific advances with regard to the molecular and cellular basis of gametogenesis and their implications for the development of new analytical tools. Special emphasis will be placed on 'in vitro' techniques.

The workshop will be followed by the Second National Conference on Endocrine Disruptors which will be held at the same location on 11 October 1997.
