The First Panhellenic Symposium on Logic will take place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from 21 to 24 July 1997. The event is organized at the joint initiative of the University of Cyprus and the Free University of Brussels (ULB) and is sponsored by the European Commission (ESPRIT programme).

The symposium will bring together researchers from a wide range of disciplines to discuss modern developments in logic and its implications for areas such as computer science, philosophy, law and others. In particular, the symposium aims to promote cross-fertilization between these disciplines and to evaluate the overall significance of logic as a unifying basic discipline.

The scientific programme of the symposium will include invited talks, presentation papers, panel discussions and tutorials. The three panel discussions will address the following topics:

- Frontiers of logic: Research trends and directions;
- Industrial and other applications of logic;
- Logic as a fundamental discipline in education.
