Fourth European Earth Observation System Workshop
The theme of the fourth workshop will be "Metadata: Focusing on the needs of small and medium-sized information holders". Emphasis will be given to both space and non-space data. Major international and European efforts for metadata definition will be presented by their implementers, and both international and European organizations will participate and contribute to the workshop.
The first day of the event will concentrate on presentations of major metadata initiatives, both European and international. The second day will be devoted to user organizations, which will have the opportunity to express their needs and assess how these needs are met by the metadata presented. Presentations will also be given by a number of pilot users of the CEO metadata guide and authoring tool. Discussions will centre on how systems currently under development can lead to compatible metadata standards which will facilitate the work of small and medium-sized information holders in making their resources available to users.
