A two-day European conference on vocational training, "Apprenticeships and work-linked learning in Europe - Transnational qualifications", will take place in Duisberg, Germany, on 6-7 November 1997. The conference is being organized by the ZENIT Innovation Relay Centre, on behalf of the European Commission (DG XXII), the German Federal Ministry for Education, Science, Research and Technology (BMBF) and the Ministry for Economics, Technology and Transport of the Land North Rhine-Westphalia.

The objective of the conference is to sensitize the audience to European methods of practice-oriented vocational training in Europe, to improve transnational mobility in Europe for apprentices and to review new qualification requirements in the European Single Market.

The event will bring together 200 experts and other persons directly involved in the field of vocational training (social partners, government representatives, companies, participants in European projects, etc.) from all 18 EEA countries. Representatives from the European Commission, the European Parliament and from the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) will also be participating.
