Reference doses and quality in medical imaging
The objective of the workshop is to present, in a didactic form (25 review papers and 60 posters), the concept and implications of quality criteria and reference doses. This will include the mechanisms for the establishment and selection of reference dose values, methods for dose measurements, and dose assessments. The implementation of quality criteria and reference dose values will be discussed, as will their relevance to optimization strategies. In particular, the practical role of reference doses in establishing clinical audit programmes will be highlighted.
The training workshop is targeted at:
- Practitioners who are referring patients to, or are undertaking, radiological examinations;
- Medical physicists taking part in quality assurance programmes;
- Radiographers or other competent persons concerned with operating the radiological techniques;
- Radiological engineers;
- Those in charge of radiation protection surveillance;
- Authorities responsible for the implementation of safety standards in the medical domain.
