EXPOLINGUA Portugal, the eighth Portuguese Fair for Languages and Cultures, will take place in Lisbon, Portugal on 23-25 October 1997.
EXPOLINGUA Portugal provides an important forum for discussion on the most recent trends in the field of languages and language learning, attracting an international public interested in the study of foreign languages, cultural tourism, translation and interpreting, equipment, multimedia and in-company training.
The event will incorporate the INOVACAO/LINGUAS contest, instituted in 1996, which provides researchers or research teams with the opportunity to present the results of their work in the field of language learning, language teaching and the use and treatment of language. The products submitted to the competition will be judged by a national jury and prizes awarded in two distinct categories: Portuguese language products; and European foreign language projects (either national or regional). The overall winner will be selected to compete for the European EUROINNOVALANGUES prize which will be awarded by the European Commission at the beginning of 1998.
The European Community's multiannual programme to promote the linguistic diversity of Europe in the Information Society (MLIS) will be present at the event.
