Agro-food firms - Preservation of the future

A conference entitled "Agro-food firms - Preservation of the future" will be held in Bordeaux, France, on 15 and 16 September 1997. The event is organized by the Innovation Relay Centre for Aquitaine, Limousin and Poitou-Charentes.

The conference aims to help food producers learn about and discuss the latest technologies in food preservation. In recent times, consumers tastes and habits have changed greatly, and demand for new and more exotic products, with fresher and more authentic tastes, means that the agro-food industry must constantly develop new technologies for food preservation.

Topics to be covered will include:

- Consumer expectations and economic stakes;
- Hot preservation techniques;
- Cold preservation techniques;
- Natural preservation techniques.

By opening the conference to participants from around Europe, the organizers aim to ensure that the widest variety of technologies are presented. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to discuss possibilities for cooperative ventures and technology transfer.
