Information technologies for the environment
The aim of the conference is to discuss information technology applications which may be used to manage the variety of data required to manage environmental problems effectively. In particular, it aims to address applications which will improve cooperation and coordination at inter-regional and trans-frontier levels, since many environmental problems can only be dealt with at this level. The main sessions will cover the following topics:
- Information systems for the production sector - Material and energy flows;
- Information systems for management and spatial planning;
- Telematics applications for the dissemination of data;
- Artificial intelligence and multi-agent systems;
- Modelling, interpretation and simulation;
- Geographic information systems (GIS).
In addition to the main conference sessions, poster sessions and tutorials will be held. Two workshops will also be held. The first will provide information on the activities supported by the Environment sector of the European Community's Telematics Applications programme, while the second, on remote sensing, is organized by the European Research Consortium for Informatics and Mathematics (ERCIM).
