A course on effectiveness in EU-funded research will be held in The Hague, The Netherlands, on 25 and 26 September 1997. The course is organized by Science Alliance, a networking organization in the field of science, research and consultancy established by universities and private organizations in The Netherlands.

The course will start with a separate symposium (on 25 September) on the forthcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme. Speakers from the European Commission (DG XII), the Dutch Ministry of Science and Education and industry will outline and discuss the planned form and content of the Programme, which is scheduled to be launched by the end of 1998.

During the course itself, participants will hear from experts from universities and consultancy firms with past experience of participating in Community research programmes. Discussions will cover topics such as application procedures for funding, forming partnerships and managing projects.
