Hot gas cleaning
Currently over 40% of electricity generated in the EU is produced from coal. One of the main aims of EU research programmes in the field is to develop and demonstrate new technologies to reduce the environmental impact of power generation. Hot gas cleaning plays a key role in such new power generation technologies, since it is aimed at the removal of solid particles and the control of sulphur, nitrogenous species, halides and trace elements.
The seminar will review current research on the main aspects of hot gas cleaning in the EU. The results of EU-funded research and demonstration projects, as well as the performance of the most recent equipment (presented by manufacturers), will be discussed. A round table discussion will draw conclusions for the future direction of research and demonstration in the field.
