First GCC-EU Conference on Advanced Oil and Gas Technologies

The first GCC-EU Conference on Advanced Oil and Gas Technologies will take place in Bahrain on 13-15 October 1997. The event is being jointly organized by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and the European Commission, within the framework of the Community's specific programme for the promotion of European energy technology. It will be hosted by the Bahrain National Oil Company (BANOCO).

The conference will provide a platform for the promotion of innovative European and GCC Member State technologies, with a view to supporting the transfer of technology to the strategically important oil and gas producing region of the Middle East, and strengthening the energy links between the EU and GCC countries (Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates).

Keynote speeches will be delivered by senior EU and GCC representatives. In particular, key political issues will be presented by the Bahrain Minister of Oil and Industry, Dr. Fayez H. Al-Sadah, and the EU Commissioner for Energy, Mr. Christos Papoutsis.
