EXPO LINGUA Berlin '97 will take place in Berlin, Germany, from 20 to 23 November 1997. This annual event is a major conference and exhibition for language professionals, and is organized under the auspices of the Council of Europe.

The theme of the 1997 event will be "Learning languages for life". Visitors to the fair will include students, teachers, personnel trainers, translators, interpreters, language travel agencies and education advisors. Services to be offered will range from language courses to teaching materials and software, and from literature to university and au-pair placement services. The exhibition will also feature a stand providing information on the Commission's Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme.

The conference, which also follows the theme of "Learning languages for life", will feature lecture sessions and smaller seminars. It is organized in conjunction with the German Association of Foreign Language Teachers (FMF), and will attract a large number of language teachers from across Germany.
