The fourth annual conference and exhibition of the European Association for the Promotion of Cogeneration (COGEN Europe) will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 15-16 October 1997. This year's conference will focus on the theme "Decentralized cogeneration and the climate change challenge".

The conference programme will include:

- Keynote overviews on the European Commission's "Cogeneration strategy for Europe" and the crucial link between combined heat and power (CHP) and climate change limitation;

- Preliminary findings of the major COGEN Europe/European Commission study on the environmental impact of cogeneration;

- Independent and radical views on the future shape of the energy industries and the place of cogeneration within them;

- A review of the cogeneration technologies which are set to emerge in the next century;

- How to finance your cogeneration projects in Central and Eastern Europe, the region where the greatest environmental benefits can be achieved;

- A debate and discussion on the priorities for new power plants - is decentralized cogeneration the best solution?
