A seminar on "Passengers' accessibility of heavy rail systems" will take place in Brussels, Belgium, on 30 and 31 October 1997. The event is organized within the framework of COST Action 335.

The seminar will address key issues affecting EU rail policy, in particular topics relating to the growing market segment of rail passengers with reduced mobility. Emphasis will be placed on the elderly and disabled. The event is aimed at management personnel from rail companies, including those involved in planning, operational and marketing issues, as well as designers, engineers and architects involved in rolling stock and stations.

Topics to be covered will include economic and market issues, design and operation of accessible rolling stock and stations, information, fares, training and intermodality.

COST Action 335 involves participants from 13 countries, and brings together experts from railways, industry and governments to exchange experience and draw up good practice and recommendations to facilitate travel and mobility of all passengers, which can be followed at national and European levels.
