EUROAMERITEL'97 - EU/Americas cooperation in telematics for health and education

EUROAMERITEL'97, a joint conference between Central American and European Union countries on developing cooperation and joint business in telematics for health care and education and training, will be held in San Jose, Costa Rica, on 5-7 November 1997.
The conference is being organized as part of the LABORTEL project which is financed by the Community's specific research programme in the field of Telematics Applications. The project aims to promote new EU telematics markets and business opportunities in parts of Latin American with promising potential for them, particularly with regard to telematics for health care and education and training.
EUROAMERITEL'97 will provide a platform for the exchange of information, expertise and experience between key counterparts from Europe and Central America. The conference will explore ways of promoting cooperation and joint business ventures between EU and Central American companies in the field of telematics for health care and education and training. The focus will be on the production and use multimedia and telematics system in the following domains:
- Health care:
. Health care delivery;
. Telemedicine;
. Management of health resources;
. Public health systems;
- Education and training:
. Primary, secondary and tertiary education;
. Professional and vocational training;
. SMEs;
. Cooperative training;
. Distance education;
. R&D concerning innovative technology for learning.
The event is targeted primarily at representatives of the Ministries concerned, and at the leading players from the industry, research, health and education sectors. On the European side, a selection a participants in the Telematics Applications programme will present and promote their achievements in this field.
