BOBCATSSS '98 - Shaping the Knowledge Society
The aim of the event is to explore and exchange ideas on the concept of a knowledge society and to discuss the elements and implications of the knowledge society for future information specialists.
Papers are currently being invited on the following topics:
- Human resource development;
- Democracy and information literacy;
- Quality;
- Knowledge management;
- Future roles for the information specialist.
BOBCATSSS is a cooperation initiative set up between library schools in Budapest, Oslo, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Tampere, Sheffield, Stuttgart and Szombathely. The initiative is supported by the European Association for Library and Information Education and Research (EUCLID) which aims to encourage European cooperation within education and research in library and information science.
The BOBCATSSS symposium is also supported by the ADAPT New Book Economy project, an initiative funded by the European Community (through the European Social Funds) and aimed at promoting the requalification of book professionals in order to help them to migrate from paper to electronic support.
