A conference entitled BITE (Bringing Information Technology to Education) will take place in Maastricht, The Netherlands, from 25 to 27 March 1998.

The conference will focus on the need within higher education to develop and implement strategies to integrate information and communications technologies in the curriculum. Whilst considerable research has already been done on developing new electronic learning environments, current guidelines for integrating this research into educational practice are either too global or too limited in approach. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers and educational practitioners to exchange information and experiences, and establish links between the two.

The conference will focus on the following topics:

- Institutional strategies;
- Educational innovation;
- New tools and applications;
- Organizational issues.

The organizers are currently inviting abstracts for submission at the conference. Abstracts should be submitted by 15 October 1997.
