An Information Day on the CRAFT Cooperative Research scheme for SMEs will be held in Porto, Portugal, on 6 November 1997. The Information Day is organized by the Portuguese Ministry for Science and Technology, the Industrial Association of Porto and the European Commission.
Cooperative research, also known as CRAFT, is one of the "Technology Stimulation Measures for SMEs" introduced under the Fourth Framework Programme to promote the participation of SMEs in the Community's research programmes. It allows groups of low- and medium-tech SMEs facing similar problems or opportunities to out-source the required RTD work to a third party (e.g. university or research organization).
The CRAFT Information Day will provide assistance in the preparation of Expressions of Interest and Exploratory Awards in view of preparing a CRAFT project. It will also provide assistance to SMEs already involved in CRAFT projects, and inform companies that have finished, or are finishing, CRAFT projects about the mechanisms to finance the exploitation and commercialization of their results.
