Second European Conference on Health Telematics Education

The Second European Conference on Health Telematics Education will take place in Lisbon, Portugal, from 6 to 8 November 1997. The conference, which is organized with support from the Healthcare sector of the Community's Telematics Applications programme, is aimed at healthcare professionals, nurses, physicians, managers and educators.

The objective of the event is to bridge the gap between health telematics and education, and show how new telematics services will change the education and training of nurses. The main topics to be covered are:

- Needs/current status in health telematics education in Europe;
- Curriculum development in health telematics, health informatics and nursing informatics;
- Development of courseware material, educational packages, software educational packages (CD-ROM, multimedia);
- Computer-based training and computer-assisted learning;
- Distance learning, WWW, and Internet applications;
- Training in using Hospital Information Systems (HIS) and Nursing Information Systems (NIS);
- Inter-university programmes (ERASMUS/SOCRATES);
- Accreditation of courses.
