Regional actions for SMEs

A conference on regional actions for SMEs will take place in Bilbao, Spain, on 30 and 31 October 1997. The event is organized by the Innovation Relay Centre for the Basque Country, SPRI.
The aim of the conference is to present actions addressed to SMEs under the Fifth Framework Programme. The intended audience is SMEs, but particularly research centres, cluster associations and other intermediary organizations which will transmit the information to their client base.
The first session will feature a series of presentations from local and regional experts and from European Commission officials who will outline the opportunities available, both under the Fifth Framework Programme and in other programmes. Other sessions will allow SMEs and SME organizations to present results of projects or project proposals. SMEs from Portugal and Northern Ireland, as well as from the Basque Country have been invited, along with others, and a parallel session involving local and foreign SMEs could be organized. A visit to a local innovative SME will also be organized for visitors from outside Spain.
