The European Information Society

A conference entitled "The European Information Society: New products, innovative services and emerging markets" will take place in Stuttgart, Germany, on 6 and 7 November 1997. The conference is organized by MFG Baden-Wuerttemberg, the local MIDAS-NET node, Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum, the Innovation Relay Centre, and the Fraunhofer Institut.

A mixture of plenary sessions and workshops will allow a wide range of topics to be covered. Speakers will include officials from regional government and the European Commission. A keynote speech will be given by Mr. Robert Verrue, Director-General of DG XIII, Telecommunications, information market and exploitation of research.

The following topics will be addressed by workshops:

- Virtual enterprise;
- Virtual knowledge providers;
- Virtual public administration;
- IT impact on enterprises;
- IT impact on knowledge providers;
- IT impact on public administration.
